Button Robes & Blankets

In the cool, rainy forests of the Northwest Coast, the button blanket has been one of the Tlingit's prized possessions.  For ceremonial occasions, robes are made from wool blankets, embellished with buttons, glass beads and applique designs.  From 1983 to 2010, Clarissa has designed and created 50 ceremonial robes; she is presently working on the publication of "A Language of Robes", a porfolio of her first fifty; this book will be available Fall 2010. Clarissa Hudson's original button robe designs are all copyrighted; please seek her permission to use images for educational purposes only.
