of the Alaska Marine Highway, in Juneau, Alaska<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Heading south for the Winter, I took my &#8220;Chilkat Mobile&#8221; filled with most of my artwork of prints, greeting cards, weavings, and supplies.\u00a0 I have a full month ahead of me; &#8211; one of a pair of &#8220;His and Her&#8221; vehicles, once owned by Peggy Garrison &#8211; the other one still lives in Juneau, once owned by Peggy&#8217;s husband, Dick Garrison<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After 4 days in Portland (I have another presentation at P.A.M. on Monday, December 8th), I drive North to Seattle for another recording session with &#8220;Ku.eex&#8221;, and then afterwards&#8230;.well&#8230; leaving Chilkat country!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We sailed three full days from Juneau, Alaska to Bellingham, Washington.\u00a0 These three days I relished because they were my first three days off I have had all year!\u00a0 Seriously, I have had one deadline after another and then some for an entire year; it&#8217;s my time for just me now.\u00a0 oh boy!\u00a0\u00a0 My cell phone rarely had service, so no texting either.\u00a0 I wasn&#8217;t schlepping stuff here and there, no packing stuff in and packing stuff out.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t have to do any errands.\u00a0 No Wi-Fi so no emailing or responding to emails; song on the ukelele Clarissa can think of, to the tune of leaving &#8220;Rain Country&#8230;&#8221;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I played ukelele every day.\u00a0 I took a shower twice a day.\u00a0 I had breakfast and lunch (from my cooler) in my room.\u00a0 I drew every day.\u00a0 I wrote every day.\u00a0 I stretched and danced every day. \u00a0 I stared out the window doing nothing sometimes for at least a\u00a0 couple of hours every day.\u00a0 Golly, it was so much fun doing the basics!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4704\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clarissarizal.com\/blogblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Stateroom.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4704\" class=\"wp-image-4704 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarissarizal.com\/blogblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Stateroom.jpg\" alt=\"Stateroom\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.clarissarizal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Stateroom.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.clarissarizal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Stateroom-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4704\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">There were no more 2-berth staterooms, so Clarissa settled for a 4-berth &#8212; Clarissa spread out all her work on each berth: just like her studio, Clarissa had one berth for weaving, one for drawing, one for music, one for her &#8220;office&#8221;&#8230;luxury, simplicity, &#8230;spoiled rotten!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For those folks who have never been to Alaska, I always recommend that they travel by way of the ferry system out of Bellingham, WA or Prince Rupert, B.C.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a great way to introduce one&#8217;s self out of the culture of the &#8220;Lower 48&#8221;
