{"id":934,"date":"2010-11-10T02:35:20","date_gmt":"2010-11-09T22:35:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.clarissarizal.com\/blogblog\/?p=934"},"modified":"2010-11-14T02:48:37","modified_gmt":"2010-11-13T22:48:37","slug":"strollers-for-elders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.clarissarizal.com\/blog\/2010\/11\/strollers-for-elders\/","title":{"rendered":"Strollers for Elders"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_935\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clarissarizal.com\/blogblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Stroller.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-935\" class=\"size-full wp-image-935\" title=\"Stroller\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarissarizal.com\/blogblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Stroller.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.clarissarizal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Stroller.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.clarissarizal.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/Stroller-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-935\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The 3-wheel &quot;Bob&quot; Stroller - for babes; what about the elderly?<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The sporty strollers like the &#8220;Bob&#8221; above, are not quite big enough for elderly folk.\u00a0 I suggest somebody invent a stroller that is specifically designed for elderly folk if it ain&#8217;t invented yet OR the stroller is adaptable to accommodate babes, handicapped and the elderly; like, has the &#8220;baby boomer&#8221; generation forgotten about our parents? \u00a0 Is it age segregation?\u00a0 Is it denial of the fact that we&#8217;re aging, or what?\u00a0 I know my mother would love to go on a hike, like out to the Boy&#8217;s Cub Scout area out Eagle River beach &#8211; it&#8217;s a beautiful walk any time of year in just about any weather (even a blizzard!).<\/p>\n<p>My mother is 85 years old.\u00a0 When she retired at the age of 65, she began to walk at least 6 miles every day; she walked steady and strong &#8211; even faster than her own kids &#8211; until 2 years ago when my father passed away, and shortly thereafter she cracked 3 vertebrae.\u00a0 She still gets out every day because she wants to but she cannot walk very far anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Wouldn&#8217;t you like to take your grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, aunt, uncle, or anyone you know who is &#8220;handicapped&#8221; out for a stroll in the country &#8211; especially if the person would like that too?\u00a0 Of course, and why not?<\/p>\n<p>I did\u00a0 a little research on line to see if strollers for elders have been invented yet; I didn&#8217;t find any &#8211; the closest thing were the sporty wheelchairs and that won&#8217;t do on our graveled Juneau trails.\u00a0 If you know of any strollers out there for elders, please drop me a line &#8211; I want to take my mother out with us, and I&#8217;d like to post the info on this blog, thank you!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The sporty strollers like the &#8220;Bob&#8221; above, are not quite big enough for elderly folk.\u00a0 I suggest somebody invent a stroller that is specifically designed for elderly folk if it ain&#8217;t invented yet OR the stroller is adaptable to accommodate babes, handicapped and the elderly; like, has the &#8220;baby boomer&#8221; generation forgotten about our parents?
